On Friday night, July 8, there was a fatal rollover crash on Morning Drive.
According to officials, the accident happened around 9.00 p.m. on Morning Drive just south of Highway 178. When officials from the Kern County Fire Department as well as Bakersfield Police Department responded to the crash they found a small white Chevrolet sedan which had been driven southbound by 22 year old Tony Bailey on Morning Drive from State Highway 178. It appears that it passed another vehicle and then for reasons as yet unknown the driver drove off an embankment.
When the authorities arrived there were three occupants outside the vehicle, including Bailey, all of whom were taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Two other occupants of the vehicle had been ejected and they were both declared dead at the scene.
Bailey was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Kern County Jail for felony DUI and two counts of vehicular manslaughter.
